Boudoir Photography | Boudoir Photographer

Boudoir Photography | Boudoir Photographer

As a boudoir photographer, it’s the easiest thing to shoot many a boudoir photography session, without ever doing one yourself.
Hiding behind the camera is where it’s at for me. It’s where I am my most comfortable.

However, I knew that this wasn’t right. I HAD to experience boudoir photography from my clients point of view. I had to be able to say – “I know how you feel, I know its daunting, I know its uncomfortable”… and MEAN it!

I think this allows me to connect with my clients so much better and I am confident now in knowing I can answer any question a client may have, because I’ve done it.

What I learnt from my shoot was, yes it’s scary/nerve-wracking, yes it requires a certain element of preparation (I now send out a full prep guide to my clients prior to their session), and yes, it’s hard work – I don’t think I’ve ever ached so much as I did the day after!

But… What was most important, was that I learned, it was SO worth it!

Obviously I couldn’t do my own shoot, so I roped in my lovely friend and former-colleague, Kirsty. I taught Kirsty boudoir photography at a studio I used to work at, so I know that she’s good, because she learned from the best 😉 haha!
No but seriously, I just had to tell her exactly what angle to shoot at, I positioned the light where she would need it, and the rest I trusted her to with! And she did an amazing job. I think she was pretty nervous, as I would be if I were to shoot for a fellow photographer – the pressure is on so much more! But she nailed it.

And when I saw my images, I was over the moon. I was so happy with how they looked, how I looked, everything. I couldn’t have asked for more.

I knew I wanted to do the shoot prior to Christmas, mainly so that I could eat what I wanted over the festive period without worrying about fitting into my outfits after! But actually, my shoot had the exact opposite effect on me. I was so in love with my images and the way my body looks right now (I think I’m the slimmest I’ve ever been!), that it was the motivation I needed to keep my eating under control and to maintain my new figure!

Had I not had Kirsty on hand to help me out, I would have booked a local photographer for my session. The only problem was, when I looked, I couldn’t find ANYONE who’s work I loved. I found a few photographers who did okay stuff but I wanted precisely the style in which I shoot. Dark, Moody, Sultry etc.

I’m so glad I did my shoot and I will have my images to look back on forever. I mean let’s be honest, I’ll never be as young as I am right now, and I doubt I’ll ever look better than I do right now. Unless I get massively into fitness… HAHA – yeah right!

Pass me the chocolate!
