The Photoshoot

THe Preparation

After your session you'll be invited back to the studio for your viewing appointment. This is where you'll see the beautiful finished images from your babies newborn photoshoot! We'll talk through packages, product options and how to make the most of your gorgeous new pictures.

Newborn photoshoots can last up to four hours. This is to allow time for baby to feed, settle and get used to me!

I'll use various wraps, backdrops and props to make your images as beautiful as possible! There's also the option to include parents/siblings/pets in the photos if you wish.

I'll send you a full preparation guide ahead of your newborn session. It'll talk you through key steps to follow the morning of your session. Preparing well for your session helps to achieve the best possible images from your photoshoot.

Adjusting to life with a newborn is tough, time goes past in a blur and as Gretchen Rubin said, “The days are long, but the years are short.” That's why it's so important to document your beautiful new baby, all teeny tiny, curled up and squishy.

Capturing photos of your baby in those first few weeks is priceless. Babies change quickly but your images will last a lifetime.

Ideally it's best to book in before you baby arrives, you can get in touch anytime from your 12 week scan, however if your baby is already here, please do get in touch and I'll do my best to fit you in.

We had an amazing newborn photoshoot with Laura. We just absolutely love all the pictures of our little boy and the whole experience was so lovely and relaxing for two very tired new parents! Laura was so patient with making sure we got amazing pictures and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. We've got a lovely big frame now hanging on our wall!

We can’t wait to go back to Laura in the future for more photoshoots and would recommend her to anyone!

When Should I Book ?

Newborn photoshoots are best done within babies first 7-21 days to get those beautiful curled up poses. I’ll ask you a few questions about babies weight and feeding method to best determine the perfect time to get you booked in.

Ideally as soon after your 12 week scan as possible. I only take on a select number of newborn shoots each month so booking in a “floating date” (around 1 week after your due date) helps me ensure I can fit you in when baby arrives.

How Long Do Sessions Last?

How Do I Prepare For The Session?

Newborn sessions can last up to 4 hours. This is to allow plenty of time for feeding, settling, wrapping and posing baby. I only book one photoshoot per day and the pace of the session is determined by the baby, there’s no rush.

My clients receive a full preparation guide ahead of their session. This will tell you what to expect from the photoshoot, how to prepare the morning of your session and all the info you need to get the very best from your shoot.

What If My Baby Won’t Settle?

What If My Baby Has Bad Skin?

Some babies will be slightly less settled than others, but I’ve got lots of tips and tricks for helping to settle and soothe baby. A lot of babies prefer to be swaddled so if that’s the case I end up taking a lot more wrapped shots than the naked ones.

Baby acne, flaky skin, redness and marks from birth are really common so please don’t worry. I usually edit these things out as they're not permanent, however, if you’d prefer them to be left in just let me know.
