Woodstock Wedding Venue
Woodstock Weddings, York
Just a few miles outside York city centre you’ll find a pretty unique, rustic wedding venue. Woodstock Wedding Venue. It’s a former horse stud farm that has been lovingly restored, revamped and refurbished into Woodstock Weddings and Events. I have been lucky enough to shoot a few weddings there this year and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s fab!
If you’re planning a wedding that’s a bit different from the norm. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s less about tradition and more about enjoying yourselves (just like my photography) then you’re in the right place. Read on, Woodstock Weddings will be right up your street!
You wouldn’t expect to find a countryside wedding venue just a ten minute drive from York city centre. Especially one that is set amidst 20 acres of idyllic and secluded woodlands and fields. The location makes it so easy for friends and family, as well as the couple, to find accommodation nearby. Always an added bonus! Anything that makes wedding admin a little easier gets a thumbs up from me!
As it’s exclusive use - you get the venue to yourself for the whole day - couples get undivided attention from the fantastic wedding coordinators at Woodstock. I always tell my Woodstock couples that they are in excellent hands with Janice and her team. I honestly don’t think anything is too much trouble for them.
Unique Wedding Venue In Yorkshire
Ever since I heard about Woodstock Weddings and Events I knew I wanted to photograph a wedding there. It’s got everything I love in a wedding venue. A rustic barn, a super cool bar area, incredible countryside that’s just perfect for exploring for wedding portraits and it’s got such a relaxed vibe to it. It’s a blank canvas so couples can do things their own way and really make the space their own. Hollie and Gemma kept things simple with lots of dark green foliage, wooden LOVE letters and candles. In contrast Abby and Jamie added a touch of glamour to the barn. White blossom trees adorned the tables, their chairs were draped with sheer white fabric and white roses, just like Abby’s bouquet, were dotted about the tables. Both weddings looked absolutely amazing and it just showed how versatile the barn is.
One of my favourite areas of Woodstock is the courtyard and outdoor seating area, it’s perfect for drinks receptions (when the weather plays ball!). Guests love mingling in the sunshine and lots of couples provide lawn games for entertainment. Although be warned, I’ve seen things get very competitive when Jenga or Connect4 are out!
If the weather is a bit more typical for Yorkshire (if it’s raining!) then everyone heads inside to either the Stable Bar with its eclectic decor or into the Barn which is lovely and light thanks to the huge picture windows. It’s always a good idea to have a wet weather plan for weddings in the UK!
Weddings at Woodstock Weddings and Events
One of the great things about Woodstock is that you get a choice of ceremony locations. It is licensed for outdoor ceremonies or you can say your vows inside the restored barn. Gemma and Hollie went for the latter option and held their wedding ceremony in the barn. They both loved the space with its oak beams, reclaimed wood panelled walls and views across the Yorkshire countryside.
Alternatively you can hold your ceremony elsewhere and then head to Woodstock for your wedding reception. Jamie and Abby had amore traditional church ceremony in York city centre and then they hired an open top bus to pick up their friends and family from outside the church and transport them to Woodstock. What a trip! Their guests were so excited, cheering and waving to everyone they passed on the way through the city!
There’s no shortage of places to take couple’s portraits at Woodstock. As guests are enjoying canapes (the food is amazing FYI) and maybe playing those aforementioned lawn games, I’ll whisk you both off for twenty minutes and we’ll go exploring. Use this time to spend some time together. I always encourage you both to chat away to each other, try to forget I’m there, as you don’t actually see a lot of each other on your wedding day. There are so many people to talk to and catch up with! One of my favourite spots is under the weeping willow tree. I love how the sunlight shines through the long green branches. At this point in the day I keep things nice and relaxed. I don’t want to spend hours posing you or keeping you away from your wedding. It’s all about you two having a bit of time away from the mayhem and getting photos that you’ll treasure forever.
Woodstock, Yorkshire Wedding Photographer
As a wedding photographer I’ve travelled all over Yorkshire and I know there is no shortage of amazing venues. From city centre boutique hotels to amazing converted barns and everything in between. Every now and then though I’ll find a venue that really stands out from the crowd. One that makes me super happy when I look back through the photos and one that I drive away from praying to the wedding gods that I’ll get to work there again soon. Woodstock Weddings and Events is one of those venues. Have a scroll and take a look at some of my favourite images from there.
If you’re planning your wedding and have booked Woodstock Wedding Venue for your day then I would love to hear from you. Let’s have a chat about your plans!

The Normans Weddings | Yorkshire Wedding Venue
Ah The Normans… how I love you.
The Normans Wedding Venue
This rustic Yorkshire wedding venue has it all. An 18th century working farm, it has been in The Robinson family for three generations. Oliver and Laura got married there and realised they wanted to share their amazing farm - their wedding venue - with other couples.
Set in rural North Yorkshire, just outside York, The Normans is surrounded by incredible views and stunning landscapes. One of my favourite things about The Normans is how they have kept all the rustic details of a working farm. Simple cow stalls, exposed stone work, huge wooden barn doors and the amazing agricultural landscape. It's all been given a contemporary twist with a modern courtyard, the marquee style Grain Shed and the hundreds of fairy lights.
Come rain or shine, the venue lends itself to the ultimate wedding celebration. Your day will be taken care of to the nth degree by the incredible team on site. The Normans is family run and from the moment you arrive you are made to feel one of the family. It really is a home away from home. In fact, I have now shot so many weddings at this beautiful venue that it feels like my second home!
Weddings all year round at The Normans
One of the best things about The Normans is that it is great for weddings whatever the season, whatever the weather. I’ve experienced The Normans on the hottest of July days and the rainiest of October days. On a sunny day The Courtyard is the perfect reception spot - especially with an acoustic band playing. On days where the weather is looking a little iffy then The Tack Bar and Cow Stalls are so cosy and great for guests to shelter away from any wind, rain or snow!
As the seasons change and it starts to get darker earlier I love working with couples to make sure they still have all the portraits, moments and memories that they’re looking forward to. I’ll always remember Vicky and Alex’s autumn wedding at The Normans, they were holding a late ceremony so chose to forego tradition and have a first look in the Barn. The Barn itself looked incredible, lit by candles and fairy lights with deep orange and green flowers lining the aisle. I’ll never forget how Alex’s face lit up when he saw Vicky walk in, it was such a beautiful moment for them to share.
Elopements at The Normans
Whilst The Normans is fantastic for big wedding celebrations it also lends itself perfectly to elopements and microweddings as well.
Steph and James held an intimate wedding ceremony at The Normans, in the Cow Stalls. They held hands and made their vows, watched by just a handful of family and friends. There’s something so special about an elopement or microwedding. And the team at The Normans pull out all the stops to give couples their dream day, whatever the size of wedding they’re planning.
The Normans wedding photographer
I love getting booked for weddings at The Normans, I think I’ve photographed more weddings there than at any other venue! I’m certainly not complaining, it’s a fantastic venue and perfect for couples looking for a rustic barn wedding. I know the layout, the lighting and the vast photography opportunities like the back of my hand. This gives me the added confidence, each time I photograph a wedding there, to push myself out of my comfort zone and find something new to experiment with. From the moment I step into the Bridal Cottage in the morning there’s a buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air. As everything is on site - the Bridal Cottage, the Ceremony Barn and the reception areas - there’s no need to worry about traffic holdups or sorting wedding transport. It’s so lovely for couples and guests just to relax and enjoy every minute of their day with no additional stress!
The Normans is a real blank canvas, couples can add as many or as few extra touches as they like and really stamp their personality all over it. I always enjoy walking in and seeing how couples have decorated the venue and made it their own. If you prefer a more minimalist look though then the exposed walls of the barn, the concrete modern courtyard and the charming, cosy Cow Stalls look perfect just as they are.

Here are just a few of my favourite moments from the huge range of weddings I’ve shot at The Normans over the last few years.
East Riddlesden Hall
East Riddlesden Hall
East Riddlesden Hall
National trust wedding venue, East Riddlesden Hall has appeared in my portfolio a few times now, and I love working there.
Some of my couples have had their full wedding day at the venue. Others have had a church ceremony first and simply held their reception at the hall. Either way, it’s a brilliant wedding venue with lots to offer.
East Riddlesden Hall is such an already-beautiful blank canvas, that you can get away with very little decor if you wish. It can be dressed and decorated to suit any wedding and any style. I’ve seen the venue adorned with bunting, fairy lights, letter lights and more, and I’ve seen it with minimal additions, letting its rustic beauty shine through.
The huge glass doors are a photographers dream! They allow natural light to spill into the venue and are perfect for a free-flow between inside and out on those warmer days. The venue offers the rustic look of the ceremony barn, with the modern interior twist and the historic main building sitting proudly at the top of the lake is the ideal wedding photography backdrop.
The botanical gardens are the perfect romanic hideaway, whilst a short walk down to the field offers some peace and quiet for those first moments as a newlywed couple.
I’ve only ever experienced East Riddlesden on warm and sunny days – long may that continue!

I am thrilled to introduce “Bridal Boudoir”. Our new boudoir photo shoot sessions we are offering to all you bride-to-be’s!
Can you imagine your partners face when they see some absolutely KNOCK-OUT images of you, rocking your wedding underwear!
There’s no better way to kick off married life than with this spicy surprise!
So what is a Bridal Boudoir Photoshoot?
It’s an empowering photo shoot, usually around two hours in length taking place at my boudoir photography studio in Leeds.
You’ll wear your wedding underwear as one of three outfit options, and any other accessories you may want to include such as a veil, garter or heels, and we create some beautiful portraits.
You won’t have to worry about what to do or how to pose as I’ll instruct you throughout the session and put you completely at ease.
Why choose to do a Bridal Boudoir Photoshoot?
Boudoir Photography has become more and more popular over the last few years with women wanting to embrace and celebrate their bodies, and realising it’s an empowering and confidence building experience.
A Bridal boudoir photoshoot is the perfect way to capture some stunning self portraits and show off your bridal/wedding underwear. The images are usually gifted to your husband or wife to be, often the night before the wedding. It’s a great little gift for your partner, even better if it’s a surprise, and will get them even more excited to see you the next day!
When to book a Bridal Boudoir Photoshoot?
You can book your bridal boudoir photoshoot as early as you like, but I recommend booking at least 8 weeks before your wedding.
This allows time to do the session, view your images, place your product order and have everything delivered before the big day!
Are You Ready?
Okay it’s time to take the leap!
