Leeds Pet Photoshoot
Leeds Pet Photoshoot
Leeds Pet Photoshoot - Pet Photography by Laura at Lumiere Photographic, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire
In amongst all the chaos that is always going on in the world, I thought I'd hopefully spread a little bit of joy with a glimpse into the life of a Leeds Pet Photographer!
Over the past few months I've had multiple pet photoshoots, both at my studio in Esholt and out on location in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Now even though they say don't work with children or animals - they're some of my favourite sessions! I've had the pleasure of meeting lots of new doggo's recently. Photographing their many expressions and adorable faces. Unlike children, you don't have to wait for dogs to smile. They're always so happy! Clients book in for a pet photoshoot for all kinds of reasons. I had a lady contact me to take photographs of her Schnauzer who is 14 years old! Sadly, we all know our pets won't be around forever. This is why it's so important to capture those memories that you can treasure forever. I've had a client book in with me to document his new Chowski puppy in all his cute and fluffy glory whilst he's still tiny! And I had many clients book in for photo's of their furry companion to gift as a Christmas present to a loved one.
Location pet photoshoots are a great way to take your pet to your favourite walking spot and capture them enjoying themselves on a walk! These sessions are really natural and are just focused on your dog being a dog!
Studio photoshoots for dogs are super classic and timeless. Paired back studio sessions of your pet give the most gorgeous elegant images, perfect for displaying in your home.
If you've been thinking about booking in for a pet photoshoot, now is the perfect time!

How to Integrate Online Yoga into Your Pregnancy Routine
Adding online antenatal yoga to your pregnancy regimen can be both a delightful and empowering experience. It's about striking the perfect balance between responding to your evolving physical needs and keeping up with your active lifestyle. Begin by creating a peaceful corner in your home to lay out your yoga mat—a distraction-free zone. This special area will be your haven for peace and self-nurturing. Timing your yoga practices is crucial. Whether you seek the calm of the early morning or the soothing ambience of the evening, choose a slot that aligns with your daily flow.
Keep in mind that regularity trumps length; even short bursts of focused yoga can have a tremendous effect. Attunement to your body is crucial. Throughout your pregnancy, you'll notice some poses becoming more suitable, while others might require tweaking. The beauty of online classes lies in their adaptability—you can stop, replay, and modify the session as needed. Feel free to bypass poses that seem too demanding and welcome those that offer comfort and relief.
Safety Tips for Practising Yoga While Pregnant
Putting safety at the forefront is key, particularly in prenatal care! Engaging in online antenatal yoga classes offers a wonderful opportunity to maintain fitness and find relaxation during pregnancy, but it's vital to remember some essential safety measures. Start by recognising the transformations your body is experiencing. It's more than just the growing bump; your sense of balance and your body's flexibility are also changing.
Steer clear of any yoga positions that exert pressure on your stomach or involve lying on your back. When it comes to twists, approach them with softness and care. It's important to avoid overheating; not only is it uncomfortable, but it's also not advised during pregnancy. Ensure your practice is cool and you stay well-hydrated.
Complementing Yoga with Other Prenatal Exercises
Creating a balanced prenatal exercise regime that includes a variety of activities enhances the benefits you get from online antenatal yoga classes. Yoga brings the gifts of flexibility and mindfulness, but when you pair it with gentle, low-impact exercises like swimming or brisk walking, you give a boost to your heart health and stamina.
Combining these exercises with yoga creates a comprehensive prenatal workout regimen. Not only do they keep you physically active, but they also play a key role in easing the discomforts associated with pregnancy. Variety truly is the key to an enjoyable and effective prenatal fitness routine.
Conclusion: Embracing Yoga for a Healthy Pregnancy
As you navigate through the beautiful journey of pregnancy, integrating online antenatal yoga classes into your life can be a deeply transformative experience. These classes provide a haven where strength and calmness intertwine, perfectly suited to the distinct needs of soon-to-be mothers.
They merge the ease of practising at home with professional instruction, creating a secure and caring space for you and your growing baby.
10 Confidence Boosting Tips for Women
Confidence Boosting Tips for Women
Are you currently struggling with feelings of self-doubt and longing to boost your confidence? Well, you're not alone. Frankly, the modern woman faces a lot of pressure. Given the ever-changing contemporary landscape of modern society, women are forced to multitask. From juggling work and family commitments to traversing the contemporary struggles of life, it’s no wonder that many women struggle with low confidence. However, it doesn’t have to necessarily be that way.
With all the appropriate tools and a stable mindset, you can regain control of your confidence. Nurturing higher self-confidence is important since it can benefit your wellbeing and positively impact your relationships, health and career.
In this article, we shall review thirty confidence-boosting tips that all women should be aware of. Whether it’s going for a photoshoot or changing your wardrobe, these tips will assist you to feel more empowered and secure.
1. Embrace Daily Self-Affirmations
Each morning, begin the day by using positive affirmations. Do not focus on your life's negative aspects but tell yourself, "I am strong and capable of accomplishing my goals." Beginning a day with this kind of word is critical in boosting your self-esteem and ensuring that you are focused on your ambitions.
2. Take Control of Your Physical Wellbeing
Research shows that there is a great link between an individual’s health and their mental state. As such, taking full control of your physical health through outdoor or indoor exercises and eating the right food greatly enhances your confidence. Note that it is easier to stay focused and feel accomplished when your body is well taken care of. Physical exercises do not necessarily involve joining the most expensive gym around your neighbourhood; rather, you participate in activities you enjoy. You can take a nature walk or jog down the street, and I can assure you that it will do wonders for your overall mental health and confidence.
3. Practice Self-love
As Monica Periade, a coaching expert, states, self-love is the foundation of self-esteem. Failure to love yourself will likely lead to low self-esteem. Loving yourself involves several aspects, such as eating healthily, sleeping well, exercising, and taking care of your mental health. Furthermore, it involves learning more about yourself, including what you mostly enjoy, and, most importantly, accepting your flaws and imperfections. Practising self-love also involves avoiding too much toxic positivity, which forces you to only focus on the bright side of things. It is good to consider all your great personality traits and how you thrive, and also seek ways to improve your faults and undesirable traits.
4. Watch out your Mental Health
Mental health is a very crucial aspect of boosting confidence. In all that you do, never forget to take some time out for yourself and do activities that make you feel good. Research indicates that spending time with people who share positive vibes, getting enough rest, and practising relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation are critical in improving an individual's mental wellbeing and boosting confidence in the long run. Furthermore, never hide your feelings; always speak out. Get a way to express your emotions by talking to someone, gaining insight, and learning how to cope with situations that are tough on you.
5. Detach from Toxic Relationships that Drain You
Maintaining high self-confidence in a toxic environment is impossible. Frankly, it’s challenging to have a positive mindset in an environment where your boundaries are being violated or when you abandon your needs to please others. For you to have a positive mindset that, in turn, enables you to have confidence, kindly detach from interactions that are taking a toll on you and draining your energy. Learn the art of saying NO!
6. Set Small Goals
According to Andrew Mecca, individuals with low confidence or self-esteem usually view themselves as failures and cultivate learned helplessness. If you are in such a situation, you must create small achievable goals that, in turn, assist you in building competence and, consequently, confidence. When you notice signs of poor self-esteem in your life, take action immediately before it gets worse. For instance, you may desist from making self-deprecating jokes with your friends or colleagues or compliment yourself the next time you look in the mirror. These nitty gritties are critical in creating a bigger picture in the long run.
7. Don’t Compare Yourself with Others
Low confidence can significantly be attributed to viewing yourself unfairly and comparing your situation with others. Remember, we are not all the same. Be gentle with yourself and desist from conditioning yourself negatively. Have a positive mindset without trying to push yourself beyond unachievable limits by beating yourself up. Accept yourself and strive towards positive change.
8. Seek to Know Yourself
Picture this: you are a soldier going into battle. However, you have not been briefed about the enemy, meaning you don't know what you are set to face. What are the probable outcomes of such a battle? Well, you can’t defeat the enemy without knowing him or her very well. In this case, when you are trying to overcome a negative self-image and replace it with self-confidence, the enemy is usually yourself! It is, therefore, important to get to know yourself well. This can involve listening to your thoughts, writing a journal about yourself and your thoughts, and analysing why you have negative thoughts. After that, start thinking about the positive things about yourself, the things you do well and like. Also, consider the limitations that deter you from achieving the positive things in your life and if they are real or artificial ones placed by you. By digging deep within yourself, you will eventually develop even greater self-confidence.
9. Develop an Efficient Support System
As a woman in the modern era, never fail to have someone who holds you back when everything seems to go south at any given time. Having meaningful relationships with people can greatly boost self-confidence. Find friends, family members, or even colleagues you can rely on. If you don't have a support system, create one as soon as possible. To achieve this, participate in activities or events you like, and you may find like-minded people. You can also volunteer in diverse activities related to your interests, which can be a great way of meeting new people with similar interests.
10. Go for a Professional Photo Shoot
Surprised? Well, don’t be. A professional photo shoot can greatly boost your confidence. Unfortunately, most women usually have insecurities about themselves, more so their bodies and feelings that they are not good enough. Such negatives are very damaging.
In most cases, they lower one’s confidence and negatively impact everything in the long run. According to Dr John Diamond, photography has a healing power. It is right to say that body-confidence photoshoots with a professional photographer will help you feel renewed, refreshed, and ready for anything. Such photography brings out your long-forgotten version of yourself, enabling you to enjoy and feel liberated.
A professional photographer will support and guide you through a shoot and create for you some beautiful photos. You can reconnect yourself through your boudoir or beauty portraits, dressed and propped in a way that feels good for you and your most comfortable and unique poses.

What Is A Newborn Photoshoot?
So What Is A Newborn Photoshoot?
Well I’ve got the answer to that question.. and all other questions you might have about a newborn photoshoot!
A newborn photography session is a photoshoot of your brand new baby. To parents, babies are newborns for their first few months if not, first year. To photographers, babies stop being newborn after week 3. The newborn window is small, and that’s why it’s so important to photograph your baby at this stage of their life!
When Should I Book My Newborn Photoshoot ?
Ideally as soon after your 20-week (or even 12-week) scan as possible. I only take on a select number of newborn shoots each month, so booking in a “floating date” (around 1 week after your due date) helps ensure I can fit you in when baby arrives.
When Will My Newborn Session Take Place?
Newborn photoshoots are best done within babies first 7-21 days to get those beautiful curled up poses. I’ll ask you a few questions to best determine the perfect time to get you booked in.
How Do I Prepare For The Session?
My clients receive a full preparation guide ahead of their session. This will tell you what to expect from the photoshoot, how to prepare the morning of your session and all the info you need to get the very best from your shoot.
What Do I Need To Bring?
As studio newborn sessions can last up to 4 hours, I recommend bringing everything you’re likely to need for your baby such as plenty of spare nappies, milk, changing matt and muslins. I also recommend parents bring a spare change of clothes just incase your outfit gets spoilt before we’ve done parent photos. There are refreshments available for you to help yourself to at the studio however please do feel free to bring any snacks with you.
How Long Does A Newborn Photoshoot Last?
Newborn sessions can last up to 4 hours. This is to allow plenty of time for feeding, settling, wrapping and posing baby. Getting babies in those beautiful poses you’ve seen isn’t as simple as you might think! It often takes some time for them to relax into the position. The pace of the session is determined by the baby, there’s no rush.
Can We Have Photos With Our Baby?
Of course! I always encourage parents/guardians to have photos with their newborn. I know you may not feel your most photo-ready so soon after giving birth but these images are often parents favourites and are so important! You’ll regret not having any photos with your brand new baby!
Are Sibling/Pets Allowed?
Yes absolutely. I offer sibling shots at the beginning or the end of the photoshoot. Children cannot stay for the entire session. The studio is not a safe place for children to be and I want your experience to be as relaxing as possible. Pet shots are always fun to include and I tend to do these with clever photoshop tricks so that there’s never any risk to baby.
What If My Baby Won't Settle?
It’s totally normal for parents to worry about this! But rest assured – I’ve been doing newborn photography since 2018 and haven’t had to reschedule a session yet! Some babies will be slightly less settled than others, but there’s usually always a workaround – I’ve got lots of tips and tricks for helping to settle and soothe baby. A lot of babies prefer to be swaddled so if that’s the case I end up taking a lot more wrapped shots than the naked ones.
What If My Baby Has Bad Skin?
Baby acne, flaky skin and marks from birth are really common so please don’t worry. I usually edit these things out but if you’d prefer them to be left in just let me know.
How Long Until The Photos Are Ready?
You’ll be invited back to the studio for your view and order session around 1-2 weeks after your newborn photoshoot.
Where Are You Located? Do You Travel?
My studio is located in Esholt woods, just off Apperley Bridge in North-West Leeds. I send out a detailed “how to find” me email ahead of your session so you know exactly where you’re going. There will be a parking space reserved for you at the studio. I only travel for at-home, unposed newborn sessions.

Woodstock Wedding Venue
Woodstock Weddings, York
Just a few miles outside York city centre you’ll find a pretty unique, rustic wedding venue. Woodstock Wedding Venue. It’s a former horse stud farm that has been lovingly restored, revamped and refurbished into Woodstock Weddings and Events. I have been lucky enough to shoot a few weddings there this year and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s fab!
If you’re planning a wedding that’s a bit different from the norm. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s less about tradition and more about enjoying yourselves (just like my photography) then you’re in the right place. Read on, Woodstock Weddings will be right up your street!
You wouldn’t expect to find a countryside wedding venue just a ten minute drive from York city centre. Especially one that is set amidst 20 acres of idyllic and secluded woodlands and fields. The location makes it so easy for friends and family, as well as the couple, to find accommodation nearby. Always an added bonus! Anything that makes wedding admin a little easier gets a thumbs up from me!
As it’s exclusive use - you get the venue to yourself for the whole day - couples get undivided attention from the fantastic wedding coordinators at Woodstock. I always tell my Woodstock couples that they are in excellent hands with Janice and her team. I honestly don’t think anything is too much trouble for them.
Unique Wedding Venue In Yorkshire
Ever since I heard about Woodstock Weddings and Events I knew I wanted to photograph a wedding there. It’s got everything I love in a wedding venue. A rustic barn, a super cool bar area, incredible countryside that’s just perfect for exploring for wedding portraits and it’s got such a relaxed vibe to it. It’s a blank canvas so couples can do things their own way and really make the space their own. Hollie and Gemma kept things simple with lots of dark green foliage, wooden LOVE letters and candles. In contrast Abby and Jamie added a touch of glamour to the barn. White blossom trees adorned the tables, their chairs were draped with sheer white fabric and white roses, just like Abby’s bouquet, were dotted about the tables. Both weddings looked absolutely amazing and it just showed how versatile the barn is.
One of my favourite areas of Woodstock is the courtyard and outdoor seating area, it’s perfect for drinks receptions (when the weather plays ball!). Guests love mingling in the sunshine and lots of couples provide lawn games for entertainment. Although be warned, I’ve seen things get very competitive when Jenga or Connect4 are out!
If the weather is a bit more typical for Yorkshire (if it’s raining!) then everyone heads inside to either the Stable Bar with its eclectic decor or into the Barn which is lovely and light thanks to the huge picture windows. It’s always a good idea to have a wet weather plan for weddings in the UK!
Weddings at Woodstock Weddings and Events
One of the great things about Woodstock is that you get a choice of ceremony locations. It is licensed for outdoor ceremonies or you can say your vows inside the restored barn. Gemma and Hollie went for the latter option and held their wedding ceremony in the barn. They both loved the space with its oak beams, reclaimed wood panelled walls and views across the Yorkshire countryside.
Alternatively you can hold your ceremony elsewhere and then head to Woodstock for your wedding reception. Jamie and Abby had amore traditional church ceremony in York city centre and then they hired an open top bus to pick up their friends and family from outside the church and transport them to Woodstock. What a trip! Their guests were so excited, cheering and waving to everyone they passed on the way through the city!
There’s no shortage of places to take couple’s portraits at Woodstock. As guests are enjoying canapes (the food is amazing FYI) and maybe playing those aforementioned lawn games, I’ll whisk you both off for twenty minutes and we’ll go exploring. Use this time to spend some time together. I always encourage you both to chat away to each other, try to forget I’m there, as you don’t actually see a lot of each other on your wedding day. There are so many people to talk to and catch up with! One of my favourite spots is under the weeping willow tree. I love how the sunlight shines through the long green branches. At this point in the day I keep things nice and relaxed. I don’t want to spend hours posing you or keeping you away from your wedding. It’s all about you two having a bit of time away from the mayhem and getting photos that you’ll treasure forever.
Woodstock, Yorkshire Wedding Photographer
As a wedding photographer I’ve travelled all over Yorkshire and I know there is no shortage of amazing venues. From city centre boutique hotels to amazing converted barns and everything in between. Every now and then though I’ll find a venue that really stands out from the crowd. One that makes me super happy when I look back through the photos and one that I drive away from praying to the wedding gods that I’ll get to work there again soon. Woodstock Weddings and Events is one of those venues. Have a scroll and take a look at some of my favourite images from there.
If you’re planning your wedding and have booked Woodstock Wedding Venue for your day then I would love to hear from you. Let’s have a chat about your plans!

How To Prepare For A Boudoir Photoshoot?
Hello! I’m Laura, Leeds Boudoir Photographer and here to help YOU prepare for a boudoir photoshoot!
So you’ve booked a boudoir photoshoot?
Congratulations! That in itself is a huge thing as I know just how nerve wracking it can be to even make that first step! So you’re all booked in and now you’re wanting to get photoshoot-ready.
Well there are some major do’s and don'ts to prepare for a boudoir photoshoot. It’s very easy to fall into the trap of wanting to transform yourself beyond recognition but this is not a good idea! You still want to look like you. After all - these images will last a lifetime!
What NOT to do:
So here’s what NOT to do before your session.
Spray Tans
I say this with love, but it’s something I’ve seen time and time again. Do NOT get a spray tan unless you’re 150% sure it’s going to look stunning and natural. If you don’t have regular spray tans, now is not the time to try it out! I know a lot of people worry about looking pasty or pale but far better to look a normal colour than bright orange!
You also run the risk of getting tan on your photographers sets/sheets etc and could land yourself with a cleaning fee which you really don’t want!
Starve Yourself
I know, I know. You book a boudoir photoshoot and immediately go “right best shift some weight”. This is NOT a good attitude to have. In fact it’s exactly the opposite of what a boudoir session is for. A boudoir photography session helps you to LOVE your body. Love the skin you’re in. Not try and change it! If you want to get fit and healthy before your session - go ahead. But if you’re going to aim to drop a dress size in two weeks it’s just not worth it. The same goes for the morning of the session. It’s very tempting to miss breakfast but trust me when I say, boudoir photoshoots are HARD. You’ll need your strength and you don’t want to feel rubbish and shaky during your session because you’ve got low blood sugar. Instead opt for a nice light healthy breakfast and plenty of water!
Damage Your Skin
Try your hardest to look after yourself on the run up to your session. After all, the skin you’re in is your main outfit and this is a key tip to prepare for a boudoir photoshoot. This includes not getting sunburn or tan lines that will be visible during your shoot. Take extra care before your photoshoot - we don’t want any big black and blue bruises on your shins from where you went rock climbing the week before your session! Think carefully about yout diet and beauty regime before your photoshoot as well. Drink plenty of water, there’s nothing worse than dry skin from dehydration and breakouts from too much caffeine and a bad diet. I know it sounds boring - but doing this will all help towards making you look and feel amazing for your photoshoot!
What TO Do:
Book your beauty appointments:
Take the stress away! Again, these images are going to last a lifetime, so why not take the pressure off and be sure to be looking and feeling your best. Get your hair done, book a professional makeup artist, and get those nails looking tip top. This is a photoshoot ALL about your beautiful body - so make it sparkle!
Get your body photoshoot ready:
Diet is key in this one. You want to up your water intake as much as possible. Here comes the fun police…But if you can cut out (or at least cut down) your alcohol, caffeine and sugar intake, not only will you see a difference in your skin but you’ll also feel so much better for your shoot!
Exfoliation is another big recommendation for me. It really does make such a difference and if you’re like me and find you have bumpy skin around your triceps and back/side of the thighs - this will transform you! Don’t forget, professional cameras pick up every little detail so you want your skin to be as photo ready as possible.
Go Shopping!
I’ve said it a couple of times already, but I really do feel the need to hammer home the fact that these images are forever. So please don’t go “oh I’ll just bring whatever I’ve got in my underwear drawer”. I know how women work, I know we’ve all got underwear in our drawers that should have been thrown away and updated a long time ago. This really is the perfect opportunity to go out and buy yourself even just one, brand new outfit that makes you feel INCREDIBLE. After all, boudoir photography is all about making you feel exactly that way. There’s never a bad time to treat yourself to some sexy new underwear!
Stretch:
This one might seem slightly random, and it’ll depend a lot on your photographer and what sort of poses they have you doing. But if you’re coming to me - please start stretching! During a lot of my photoshoots I have my boudoir clients arching their backs like they’ve never arched before. It makes such a difference to making your images look incredible if you can nail the pose. And most people don’t often arch, in fact we spend most of our time hunched over computers and desks so clients who don’t prepare, often find themselves very achy the next day!
My final bit of advice would be to turn up to your photoshoot in loose clothing so you don’t start your boudoir session with lines from your jeans all the way down your legs!
So there you have it - they are my top tips to prepare for a boudoir photoshoot! But above all else - ENJOY IT! Boudoir photography is, for most people, a once in a lifetime experience - and whilst I know you’ll be nervous - do try and embrace it! You’ll love it and you’ll love your images - promise!

What Is A Boudoir Photoshoot?
What is a boudoir photoshoot?
Your boudoir photoshoot, explained
A boudoir photoshoot is an investment in yourself, a celebration of your body, it’s an empowerment session. Something to instil you with a confidence you’ll never let go of, and help you to see how beautiful you really are! Whilst a lot of people will see “just sexy photos” (and there’s NOTHING wrong with that), it’s so much more than that. The way it lifts us up, helps us love our bodies, helps us see what our loved ones see when they look at us – it’s something truly spectacular.
I grew up in an era of women being scrutinised by the media. Unhealthy diet fads/trends and body images were everywhere. Cellulite/rolls/bad skin being highlighted and splashed all over the front of magazines. Celebrities having to “bounce back” to their pre-baby body in record time otherwise they’d “let themselves go”. So toxic. And I believe we’re all still healing from that.
And that’s where I come in, that’s where this photoshoot plays its part. The importance of realising our worth is not determined by how we look. We are all beautiful – to paraphrase Bridget Jones – … just as we are.
When should I book in for my boudoir photoshoot?
Now. No really… Now!
I’d book as far in advance as you can. I have clients booking in up to 18 months in advance!
What are you waiting for? Let me tell you, “the right time” doesn’t exist. By all means, get yourself prepped. Book in for a haircut/nails appointment/ waxing etc, but other than that, get it booked!
If you’re wanting the images for something in particular, for example, loads of my clients do their shoots as a gift for their partner, or a wedding/anniversary present, or even for themselves to celebrate a birthday. For these occasions, I’d advise booking in for your session at least 8 weeks in advance. This allows plenty of time for the photoshoot, viewing session, and to order any products you may wish to purchase. Wall art/albums etc can take up to 4 weeks to turn around.
Also if you’re thinking of taking advantage of one of the pre-payment plans, you need to give yourself time to pay in instalments!
How do I prepare for my boudoir session?
I will send you out a full prep guide when you book in with me and always offer a pre-shoot consultation. The guide talks you through preparing your whole body, from eating well to waxing & exfoliation. I also send out advice on your boudoir photoshoot wardrobe. Outfits can make or break a photoshoot so I always encourage my clients to get in touch with me if there’s anything they’re not sure on! Plus those all important on-the-day tips, such as not wearing anything tight that will leave marks on your skin for the photoshoot.
What happens at my boudoir photoshoot?
A typical boudoir experience looks like this:
10am – Arrive
10am – 11am – Hair & Make Up
11am – 1pm – Photoshoot
1pm – 2pm – Lunch (you leave the studio for an hour or so to grab a bite to eat whilst I get your images ready to view)
2pm – 3pm – Viewing
3pm – All Done!
After your hair and make up artist has left, it’ll only be the two of us in the studio, so you can relax with me. I’ve done my own boudoir photoshoots before so when I tell you I know how you feel… I really do! I’ll talk you through everything, tell you and show you what to do, and we can take it as steady as you like.
I can't pose/I'm not sexy!
Firstly, you can & you are!
Secondly, I got you.
I will not only tell you exactly how to pose, but I’ll show you what I want you to do too. Most of the images you’ll be looking down/eyes closed/ away from the camera. I won’t ask you to pout or pull a “sexy” face at the camera! It’ll be great fun, and you’ll nail it. The only thing I will warn you of… it’s HARD work. You may well feel like you’ve done a full body work out after the photoshoot!
What should I bring for my boudoir photoshoot?
Outfits you LOVE!
As I said above, the right or wrong outfit choice can make or break a boudoir photoshoot. If you love it and it makes you feel good, it’ll show on camera!
My photoshoots are about you & your body, so I don’t tend to do much with props, but I have had clients bring in items to personalise their photoshoot. Particularly, for example, if it’s for a gift. Your partners motorbike helmet, a golf club, his shirt, his tie, a rubgy ball… you get the idea. So this is an option for you if you want it!
Heels & accessories/jewellery can really finish off an outfit too. You can also bring make up/moisturiser/deodorant/robe etc so you’re as comfortable as possible. But I do have similar bits to hand at the studio in case you forget!
How many outfits should I bring?
We’ll aim to shoot up to 3 outfits, but you can bring as many as you’d like with you. I’ve had clients turn up to the studio with a suitcase that looks like they’re moving in for the week! I’ll help you narrow down your options to the best ones. If you’re unsure on your outfits, we can always do a little try on session before we start shooting and I can give you my advice on which pieces will work best. I also have bits at the studio that you can use such as bodysuits/lingerie sets/stockings/heels/body jewellery. My outfits range from XS to XXL.
Do I need to buy new underwear?
Yes.. and no. It depends what you’ve already got! I do however, think a boudoir photoshoot is an excellent excuse to treat yourself to some lovely new pieces and make you feel extra special!
Try and avoid bringing anything that no longer fits you properly or perhaps looks a bit old & tatty.
In my prep guide I’ll give you advice on where to shop and I do break it down into low, middle and high end budget sections.
How much does a boudoir photoshoot cost?
My sessions are £299. This non-refundable booking fee covers our pre-shoot consultation, complimentary hair and make up, your in depth prep guide, up to 2 hours shooting time, and your images retouching ready to view. This price does not include any images.
Prices for smaller collections of digitals start from £349 and are better suited for smaller budgets.
Most of my clients opt for one of my all inclusive packages which start at £749 but include ALL your images from your session (usually around 50 images) PLUS a gorgeous printed product. These have been specifically designed to be the best value for money. I also offer prepayment plans to make this often once-in-a-lifetime experience more affordable! You can see my full boudoir price list here: Price List
How long after the photoshoot until I can see my images?
The boudoir experience includes a same day viewing. You’d leave for around 1 hour after your photoshoot whilst I get your images ready to view.
If you don’t have time for a same day viewing, the other option is to return for a viewing. This is where you’ll be invited back to your “view and order” session usually around 2 weeks after your session.
I need my images for a specific date - how far in advance should I book?
Ideally at least 8 weeks. This gives us time to schedule your photoshoot, viewing, and if you’re opting for something like an album, it allows time for the production turnaround.
Can my photos remain private?
Of course! I love it when my clients allow me to use their photos, but it’s completely your decision. I will ask you about your image preferences, and if you’d prefer I use unrecognised photos, or only post them in my VIP group, that’s absolutely fine. Equally, if you know you’ll be happy for me to share your images, please let me know in advance of your session so I can take some behind the scenes shots of me working and include a special gift for you!
Where are you based?
My studio is nestled in Esholt woods which is North/West Leeds. Just off Apperley Lane in Rawdon, you’ll find me in a beautiful business park that used to be a working farm before it was converted! My boudoir studio is totally private and you will have a designated parking space for your session.
I do have clients travel to me from all over the U.K and I am more than happy to provide recommendations for hotels if you’re planning on staying over in Leeds.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Please do follow me on instagram: Leeds Boudoir Instagram
And come and join my private facebook group which is full of past, and present clients. See questions they’ve asked, videos posted by me, session advice plus be the first to know about offers and exciting news!
Hopefully that’s answered all the questions you might have about a boudoir photoshoot, but if there’s anything else or you just want to have a chat, I’m here! We can organise a phone or zoom call or even an in person meeting to talk through everything if it would make you feel more comfortable.
I can’t wait to hear from you & create some stunning empowering photos of you, for you to treasure forever!
Lots of love, Laura x
The Normans Weddings | Yorkshire Wedding Venue
Ah The Normans… how I love you.
The Normans Wedding Venue
This rustic Yorkshire wedding venue has it all. An 18th century working farm, it has been in The Robinson family for three generations. Oliver and Laura got married there and realised they wanted to share their amazing farm - their wedding venue - with other couples.
Set in rural North Yorkshire, just outside York, The Normans is surrounded by incredible views and stunning landscapes. One of my favourite things about The Normans is how they have kept all the rustic details of a working farm. Simple cow stalls, exposed stone work, huge wooden barn doors and the amazing agricultural landscape. It's all been given a contemporary twist with a modern courtyard, the marquee style Grain Shed and the hundreds of fairy lights.
Come rain or shine, the venue lends itself to the ultimate wedding celebration. Your day will be taken care of to the nth degree by the incredible team on site. The Normans is family run and from the moment you arrive you are made to feel one of the family. It really is a home away from home. In fact, I have now shot so many weddings at this beautiful venue that it feels like my second home!
Weddings all year round at The Normans
One of the best things about The Normans is that it is great for weddings whatever the season, whatever the weather. I’ve experienced The Normans on the hottest of July days and the rainiest of October days. On a sunny day The Courtyard is the perfect reception spot - especially with an acoustic band playing. On days where the weather is looking a little iffy then The Tack Bar and Cow Stalls are so cosy and great for guests to shelter away from any wind, rain or snow!
As the seasons change and it starts to get darker earlier I love working with couples to make sure they still have all the portraits, moments and memories that they’re looking forward to. I’ll always remember Vicky and Alex’s autumn wedding at The Normans, they were holding a late ceremony so chose to forego tradition and have a first look in the Barn. The Barn itself looked incredible, lit by candles and fairy lights with deep orange and green flowers lining the aisle. I’ll never forget how Alex’s face lit up when he saw Vicky walk in, it was such a beautiful moment for them to share.
Elopements at The Normans
Whilst The Normans is fantastic for big wedding celebrations it also lends itself perfectly to elopements and microweddings as well.
Steph and James held an intimate wedding ceremony at The Normans, in the Cow Stalls. They held hands and made their vows, watched by just a handful of family and friends. There’s something so special about an elopement or microwedding. And the team at The Normans pull out all the stops to give couples their dream day, whatever the size of wedding they’re planning.
The Normans wedding photographer
I love getting booked for weddings at The Normans, I think I’ve photographed more weddings there than at any other venue! I’m certainly not complaining, it’s a fantastic venue and perfect for couples looking for a rustic barn wedding. I know the layout, the lighting and the vast photography opportunities like the back of my hand. This gives me the added confidence, each time I photograph a wedding there, to push myself out of my comfort zone and find something new to experiment with. From the moment I step into the Bridal Cottage in the morning there’s a buzz of excitement and anticipation in the air. As everything is on site - the Bridal Cottage, the Ceremony Barn and the reception areas - there’s no need to worry about traffic holdups or sorting wedding transport. It’s so lovely for couples and guests just to relax and enjoy every minute of their day with no additional stress!
The Normans is a real blank canvas, couples can add as many or as few extra touches as they like and really stamp their personality all over it. I always enjoy walking in and seeing how couples have decorated the venue and made it their own. If you prefer a more minimalist look though then the exposed walls of the barn, the concrete modern courtyard and the charming, cosy Cow Stalls look perfect just as they are.
Book me as your wedding photographer for The Normans
I’m back at The Normans a few times over this summer and I can’t wait. If you’re planning your wedding there, or at any other Yorkshire wedding venue, then I would love to hear from you and find out all about your plans. Click here to see more info about my wedding photography: Wedding Photography
Here are just a few of my favourite moments from the huge range of weddings I’ve shot at The Normans over the last few years.
Boudoir Photography Leeds | Alice
Boudoir Photography Leeds | Alice
Boudoir Photography Leeds.
Alice came to my Leeds-based studio for her boudoir session a few months ago. She knew she wanted to have a boudoir shoot before her wedding in July so that she could surprise her husband-to-be with the pictures on the morning of their wedding!
Alice did EVERYTHING right in preparation for her boudoir shoot. I always send my clients a preparation guide but it's so nice when they follow my advice!
She'd gone out and bought new underwear (she got lots of lovely bits from Boux Avenue), she'd had her hair and nails done, and other than acquiring a huge bruise on her leg (an accident though!) she was ready to go!
As it was sort of a bridal boudoir shoot, we did the first set of images in a lighter coloured underwear set with more reserved poses and slightly softer lighting. We then moved on to darker sexier underwear and poses to match of course!
Alice absolutely rocked her session and loved her images! When she came back to her 'view and order' session she got 20 digital images and a huge framed piece of wall art that she surprised her husband with on the morning of their wedding!
When he saw me that day, he was very impressed and very grateful!
